About the exhibition
This summer The James Gallery at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, presents a look into our archive of the past five years of exhibitions and programs with artists and scholars. Video documentation of a selection of public lectures and conversations that have taken place in the James Gallery will be projected for viewers to experience through the windows of The Graduate Center’s landmark building. Since 2011, 169 Graduate Center and 86 CUNY-wide faculty and students engaged in public conversation about their work through 20 exhibitions with 247 related public programs, which attracted over 10,000 attendees. Participants who have spoken in the gallery include Fred Moten, Carroll Dunham, Robert Reid-Pharr, Talal Asad, Hito Steyerl, Andre Aciman, Chandan Reddy, Eyal Weizman, Uday Mehta, and Esther Allen among many others.
This coming fall, visitors are invited into the gallery for a series of twenty-five programs featuring faculty and students that will take place during the exhibition “Tomorrow life will be housed in poetry: The House of Dust by Alison Knowles et. Al.” on view from Sept 8-Oct 29, 2016.
