Showcase and Information Session: Center for the Humanities’ Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research

About the event

Please join the Center for the Humanities for a showcase of past and ongoing scholarly and creative projects produced by CUNY and community participants of the Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research. This celebration of projects created by the 2017-2019 cohort will double as an information session to learn how to get involved and apply for the upcoming 2019-2022 iteration of the initiative (CUNY faculty and GC Doctoral Students are eligible), providing an opportunity to plug into public humanities efforts and opportunities at the Center for the Humanities, connect with like-minded practitioners across CUNY and the city, and learn from the experiences of previous CUNY and community participants.

The day will begin with an information session at 10:30am. We will outline eligibility and application instructions and offer an overarching framework of the goals, values, and organizational structure of this expansive public humanities initiative.

At 12:45pm, Faculty Coleaders, Teaching Fellows, Digital Publics Fellows, and students ranging from high school to PhD candidates involved in the 2017-2019 initiative will present on their work. In 2017-2019, the cohort developed original theatrical productions, podcasts, publications, and public events ranging from small-scale workshops to large-scale summits addressing issues as wide-ranging as radical oral history archiving to youth activism on public education reform, from media arts and the health sector to community development of climate action plans. Come hear about their experiences and share in the videos, photos, stories, and texts generated through these meaningful exchanges.
