Join us for a double party! Our Listening Party is an experimental, collaborative celebration of a semester-long workshop series, led by Sady Sullivan, that brought together artists and scholars from The Laundromat Project fam and the CUNY community. We are also launching The City Amplified: Oral Histories and Radical Archives (edited by Allison Guess & Prithi Kanakamedala), a collection of 10 commissioned essays from radical practitioners in the field today.

Our Listening Party is the final event of the Spring 2019 "The Impact of Listening and Being Heard: Oral History, Archives, & Advocacy," workshop series that consisted of seven scholar/artists who met to discuss oral history, archives, advocacy, and identity. The workshop participants are: Bridget Bartolini, Brittany Lauren Brock, Aspen Christian, Crystal Des-Ogugua, Yvette Ramirez, Rebecca Swann-Jackson, Cievel Xicohtencatl. The workshop led by Sady Sullivan, is sponsored by the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and The Laundromat Project (The LP).
The City Amplified: Oral Histories and Radical Archives is a collection of ten-commissioned essays available both in print and digital copy, based on the working group of the same name. Contributors include: Gabrielle Bendiner-Viani, Hatuey Ramos-Fermin, Maggie Schreiner, Molly Garfinkel, Rebecca Amato, Sady Sullivan, Samip Mallick, Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz, Walis Johnson, and Yvette Ramirez. The year-long working group brought together an exceptional range of practitioners in the field from organizations such as The Laundromat Project, Interference Archive, Buscada, City Lore, Brooklyn Historical Society, JACK, South Asian American Digital Archive, Urban Democracy Lab, American Social History Project, and others.
