The City University of New York (CUNY) is working in collaboration with New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA), a citywide membership network linking grassroots organizations from low-income neighborhoods and communities of color in their struggle for environmental justice (EJ). Operating out of the the Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center, The NYC-EJA-CUNY collaboration (The NYC Climate Justice Hub) will help ensure that EJ policy and program development in NYC centers the needs and leadership of low-income students and communities of color—modeling a robust, ground-up, citywide approach to just transition.

With aims to build comprehensive communication tools showcasing the work of the coalition to both internal stakeholders and the general public, the NYC Climate Justice Hub will collaborate with a data and analytics consultancy that develops immersive impact maps and digital platforms for change makers.

The NYC Climate Justice Hub is seeking a summer intern who could help the consultancy team with researching different aspects of the collaboration, including, but not limited to:

This summer fellow will be in direct contact with stakeholders at both CUNY and the consultancy to facilitate the data collection process and ensure that the data is sound and up to date.

Eligibility:

Current CUNY Graduate Center Masters and Doctoral Students. Funds will be transferred to financial aid for dispensation. Double check eligibility with financial aid before applying.

Students in all disciplines are welcome to apply. Students with a demonstrable background in climate justice activism across NYC; an interest in strengthening environmental justice and climate justice infrastructure and networks at CUNY, and a facility in data collection, analysis, and visualization are a plus. Clear and respectful communication, the ability to honor timelines and meet deadlines, and self-direction are also key.

Compensation:

50 dollars an hour for a total of $3,000
