This two-day conference will focus on various kinds of protest and the importance of public space for democratic practices and transformations of cities across the globe. Recent events from Tahrir Square to Zuccotti park underscore the potential of public spaces to serve as catalysts for social and political change. Panels include both senior and emerging scholars in the field as well as activists who work within the academy for equality and social justice in the city.
