About this Opportunity
Opportunity for Artist/Scientist Poster Collaboration at Reclaimed Land Conference
The Art, Activism, and the Environment research team from the Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research at the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center, CUNY is excited to be collaborating with Freshkills Park Alliance to pair graduate students in the sciences with graduate students in the arts & humanities to re-imagine the scientific poster. If you are a graduate student in the sciences who would like to present work at the Reclaimed Lands Conference, or a graduate student in the arts & humanities who would like to re-imagine how scientific work is presented, and are interested in participating in this collaborative effort, please reach out to Cait Field at [email protected] for more information.
If selected, you will work with a fellow graduate student to create a scientific poster based on the science graduate student’s work, which conveys the information and concepts through an artistic lens. The poster will be displayed alongside more traditional scientific posters at the Reclaimed Lands Conference on June 28th and 29th, 2018, located at the Interactive Telecommunications Program space at New York University. Both graduate students who have worked on the poster will be encouraged to attend the conference and be at the poster to field questions during poster sessions.

Poster Guidelines
All posters must fit within an area no larger than 42 inches wide x 40 inches high.
This is a multidisciplinary conference and we recognize that not everyone’s work is best suited to the traditional poster format. If you have work that you would like to bring to the conference that does not fit this format, please reach out to [email protected].
Poster boards will be available from 9am on June 28th until 5pm on June 30th, 2018.
Presenters are encouraged to hang their posters on the first day of the conference so that there is as much time as possible for attendees to view them.
Poster sessions will be during lunch on June 28th and 29th, 2018, with additional viewing opportunities during breaks.
You are encouraged to stand by your poster during the lunch sessions — food will be provided and permitted in the poster room.
*Please note that depending on the number of submissions, we may need to close the call earlier than May 25th, so don’t wait to submit yours!
