Join us for the first public screening and discussion of the short film, Del Barrunto al Radar: Pronosticos Imprecisos— Clima, Tiempo y la Agricultura Boricua / From a Presentiment to the Radar: Imprecise Forecasts—Climate, Weather and Agriculture in Puerto Rico
The film directed by Omar Iloy and Alana Toro-Ramos showcases agricultural workers on the island of Puerto Rico who discuss the impacts of weather and climate change on their livelihood. It was commissioned as part of the ECHO project and will be available to the public after screening at www.isercaribe.org
After the film join Dr. Ryan Mann-Hamilton and Dr. Nathan Hosannah for a discussion of the film and their CUNY Collaborative project findings!
As Dr. Mann-Hamilton, an anthropologist and Dr. Hosannah, an atmospheric scientist began their foray into an interdisciplinary assessment of weather and the changing climate's impact on weather in Puerto Rico, they definitely imagined documenting their findings. They could not however imagine that the voices of the people they wished to serve would echo out through film.

This event is organized by the Environment Community Humanities Oasis (ECHO) project led by Ryan Mann-Hamilton as part of the Seminar on Public Engagement and Collaborative Research from the Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center.
