The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and The Montefiore Einstein Fine Art Program and Collection in collaboration with the Collective Voice: Digital Conversations in Public Space research team from the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center, CUNY is excited to offer an opportunity to be an Ambassador of Technology, Art and Healthcare for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, helping to foster the development and expansion their Children’s Hospital Innovation Lab (The CHIL Zone).

Want to help change the future of healthcare? With us you can! The Montefiore Children’s Hospital has been launching a new Innovation Lab (The CHIL Zone) in the hope of changing patient experience and recovery. Working with the Collective Voice: Digital Conversations in Public Space research team from the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center, CUNY, a Manhattan-based technology company, artists, and various departments in the hospital, including Oncology, Sickle Cell, Rehabilitation and more, we seek to minimize pain, recovery, and opioid use for hundreds of patients in The Bronx and Hudson Valley. To date, we are working to implement virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D printing but looking to curate and cultivate appropriate options per patient needs and the local community. Montefiore also prides itself on having a thriving Fine Art Program and Collection which works to infuse our innovative technologies with artwork where possible.
Ambassador Responsibilities:
- Facilitate technology usage for patients and family members.
- Work alongside staff to better understand and prepare for patient preferences in technology and needs.
- Identify new technology opportunities that could better patient experience in the hospital and help to foster them.
- Assist our Manhattan-based technology firm Glimpse Group in implementing technology and programming.
- Explore innovative experience opportunities such as art, travel, and gaming for patients to expand a growing library for Montefiore.
- Travel to various hospital and technology-based locations throughout the five-boroughs.
- Converse with professionals about further opportunities to integrate technology at Montefiore.
- Be responsible for equipment and updates on equipment options.
- Research for grant opportunities and grant writing.
- Share information and reports with CUNY faculty and staff as they develop individualized digital experiences for Montefiore patients.
Ambassadorship Details: Duration and Stipend
Duration: Approximately 12-14 hours a week plus travel time, running from early September through mid-December (with the opportunity to continue through the year).
Schedule will be set appropriately per the needs of the department we are working with and student’s availability. Flexibility is appreciated as possible.
Stipend amount: $4000
Eligibility:
CUNY Graduate Student with background in any of the following: education, childhood development, critical psychology, digital arts, medical humanities.

The Montefiore Fine Art Program and Collection is an innovative visual arts program that enhances and supports the restorative environment in service to our patients, their families, and Montefiore associates. Collective Voice: Digital Conversations in Public Space research team
The Collective Voice: Digital Conversations in Public Space research team is part of the Mellon Seminar on Public engagement and Collaborative Research from the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center CUNY, examining potential dialogues created through digital platforms, testing the possibilities of anonymity, public discourse and collective voice in live, interactive public displays.
