About the event
Tricontinentalism took many forms: a self-determination movement of the global south, a political project of the post-revolutionary Cuban state, a cultural production in film, music, and print, a discourse, and an ethos. Join us for this evening of discussion exploring Tricontinentalism from a range of disciplinary angles and considering its legacy today.

This event will feature presentations from Anne Garland Mahler, author of From the Tricontinental to the Global South: Race, Radicalism, and Transnational Solidarity (2018); educator and activist Prexy Nesbitt; and Robyn C. Spencer, author of The Revolution Has Come: Black Power, Gender, and the Black Panther Party in Oakland (2016). Presentations by speakers will be followed by a conversation moderated by Debra Lennard, student in the Graduate Center’s PhD Program in Art History, and curator of Notes on Solidarity: Tricontinentalism in Print.
