About this CUNY Adjunct Incubator Project
As part of a research project supported by the CUNY Adjunct Incubator, Pamela A. Proscia, an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Sociology, and the School of Education in the Department of Special Education, Graduate New York City Teaching Fellows program at Hunter College, CUNY is developing "The Musical Seeds Project: Intersections of Ecology, Music, and Dance," a series of educational events which seek to expand the ways in which we think about growing and harvesting plant life by honoring the wisdom from an array of ethnocultural communities.
The Musical Seeds Project acknowledges and celebrates times of planting and harvesting. Since 2015 the project has carried out public events with an educational focus, which include ceremonies honoring the heritage of cross-cultural perspectives and ways of being in the world. Our efforts have brought together multiple ethnocultural communities who offer multivocal lenses that honor the age-old wisdom from an array of ethnic groups and the vast range of knowledge of diverse peoples. These events, attended by hundreds of children and adults, were very well received and were carried out in public spaces, which have included New York City’s parks.
