Yang Wang is Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Colorado Denver, specializing in modern and contemporary Chinese art. Her book project, “Regionalizing National Art in Maoist China: The Chang’an School of Ink Painting, 1942–1976,” examines the role of China’s provincial art centers in the overhaul of the national art program during the early People’s Republic of China. Her writings have been published in Yishu and Modern Art Asia. Her research has been supported by Fulbright, The American Oriental Society and P.E.O. International. Prior to CU Denver, she was the ASIANetwork-Luce Postdoc at Luther College, where she also curated an exhibition of contemporary Chinese ink painting. Her teaching focuses on the arts of China, Asia broadly, as well as their intersections with global modernism and the international field of contemporary art.
