Ryan Evelyn is a PhD student in the French department at the Graduate Center, CUNY. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in French and English literature from the University of New Hampshire in 2015 and, after having spent a year abroad in France, received his Master of Arts degree in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Connecticut in 2017. Broadly speaking, Ryan studies gender and sexuality in the early modern period and his current research investigates instances of homosocial relationships depicted in the works of various 17th-century French women writers.
