Rimini Protokoll is a collaborative theater group founded by Helgard Haug (1969), Stefan Kaegi (1972) and Daniel Wetzel (1969) who studied together at the Institut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft in Giessen, Germany. Leaders of the theatre movement known as "Reality Trend" (Theater der Zeit), they have attracted international attention with their dramatic works, which take place in that colourful zone between reality and fiction. Rimini Protokoll has been awarded numerous accolades in Europe, and in 2011 at the 41th Venice Biennale they were awarded the Silver Lion, established to honor new theatrical realities
