Rev. Dr. Robin Hoover is a native of Big Spring, Texas. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), he has served as a pastor for more than 31 years. Hoover holds a Masters of Divinity in Social Ethics and a PhD in Political Science focusing on the sub-discipline of religion and politics theory. More than 20 years of research and a current book manuscript near completion focus on migration policy reform from a faith-based perspective. Rev. DR. Hoover has “birthed” several nonprofit organizations, most notably, Humane Borders, Inc. a social welfare organization dedicated to reducing migrant deaths and advocating for changes in migration policy that place migrants at risk. Presently, he is working on a new project called Proyecto Rescatame! that uses satellite-based technology rescue beacons to rescue immigrants. In 2006 Rev. Dr. Hoover was awarded the Premio Nacional de los Derechos Humanos or National Human Rights Award in Mexico. He is the only non-Mexican to have received such prestigious award.
