Mimi Gisolfi D’Aponte is Professor Emerita of Theatre at the CUNY Graduate Center and at Baruch College where she received the 1988 Baruch College Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching. She is editor of Seventh Generation: An Anthology of Native American Plays (Theatre Communications Group 1999) and translator of Neapolitan Style: Five One-Act Plays by Eduardo De Filippo (FDU Press 2004) which received the Italian Government’s Translation Prize in 2006. During 2002-12 she produced professional, staged readings of these plays as well as directing Pirandello readings. D’Aponte’s plays have received professional staged readings: Staying Connected, at NYU's Casa Italiana (2007); 8th Grade Reunion at The Players Club in NYC (2008); Sister Spirit at St. Boniface in Brooklyn(2012); Brooklyn Rx by GNPS (2016). Homeland Security was produced by the Valley Players Theatre in Waitsfield, Vermont in 2013. D’Aponte published My Mother’s Front Porch & Other Plays in 2015.
