Micheal Rumore is a second-year PhD student in English and a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Lehman College. His current research focuses on theorizing the circulation of “world literature.” How do we account for the tension between conceptualizations of world literature as a utopian intercourse of texts on a planetary scale and the deeply unequal effects of globalization? His ongoing project explores the possibility of mobilizing discourses of world literature as a critique of globalization, calling attention to the constitutive limitations placed on certain subjects, histories, and texts by the unequal circuits of global literary production. He received his BA in English and writing University of Tampa (2012).
