Megumi Chibana

Megumi Chibana is originally from Okinawa and currently in a doctoral program in the Department of Political Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is originally from Okinawa. Her research interests include indigenous politics, critical theories, transnational activism and the Asia-Pacific region. Her work “Striving for Land, Sea, and Life: The Okinawan Demilitarization Movement” has been published in a peer-reviewed journal Pacific Asia Inquiry. Her previous research was funded by the Obuchi Scholarship at the East-West Center, a U.S.-based institution that promotes cooperative research and public diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region.
