Voices of NY editor Maite Junco has been an editor and reporter for over 20 years. Maite began her career as a TV producer for Channel 24, an all-news station in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She moved to New York in 1989 and first worked at El Diario-La Prensa, the nation’s oldest Spanish-language daily. She was also a beat reporter at Bloomberg News, covering immigration and religion. Maite started at the New York Daily News as Metro Editor for El Daily News, a short-lived daily bilingual (English/Spanish) paper, the first of its kind in the country. She was later Deputy Metro Editor and Assignment Editor for the Daily News’ City Desk. She spent 15 years at the New York Daily News, the last of them as Managing Editor for Hispanic Publications overseeing Viva, a weekly section focused on Latin culture and issues and Hora Hispana, a free stand-alone weekly Spanish-language newspaper.
