Logan McBride

Logan McBride is an educator, activist, and historian who specializes in the origins of mass incarceration. She earned her PhD in history from the CUNY Graduate Center for “The Brotherhood,” a dissertation exploring the history of a pioneering generation of urban African American correction officers working in the New York State prison system during the 1960s and 1970s. Currently she holds a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Justice at Columbia University, and works as an Instructional Technology Fellow at Macaulay Honors College. Most recently, she has had the privilege of collaborating with Ronald Kitchen on his memoir, My Midnight Years: Surviving Jon Burge's Police Torture Ring and Death Row (Chicago Review Press, August 2018). Logan has served as a CUNY Writing Fellow at Bronx Community College and adjuncted in the history program at Lehman College. She holds an MA in secondary education and taught social studies for several years in a Bronx public high school before embarking on her doctoral studies.
