Kathleen Lynch is professor of Equality Studies at University College Dublin. She works on issues of egalitarian theory and practice and has published two major works in the field: Equality: From Theory to Action (2004) and Affective Equality: Love Care and Injustice (2009). The latter was listed as one of Ireland's 100 best books in 2009 by the Irish Times. She played a key role in founding the UCD Equality Studies Centre in 1990 and the UCD School of Social Justice in 2005. She also helped establish the UCD-wide Egalitarian World Initiative Network (EWI) of staff involved in research and teaching on equality and social justice, chaired the EWI, and was lead scientist for the EWI Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge Award (2006-2010) on Creating and Egalitarian and Socially Inclusive Europe (ESIE).
