Joshua Wilner received his A.B. in French Literature from Cornell University in 1969, and his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature in 1980 from Yale University, where he worked in particular with Paul de Man and Geoffrey Hartman. His book Feeding on Infinity: Readings in the Romantic Rhetoric of Internalization (Hopkins, 2000) was the recipient of the Jean-Pierre Barricelli Prize for the year's best work in Romantic Studies and his essays have appeared in various journals and collections. He is a former President of the International Conference on Romanticism, and served as co-editor of Prism(s): Essays in Romanticism in 2009. His main areas of interest are Romanticism (especially Romantic poetry and autobiography) and critical theory. His critical approach is informed by deconstruction, psychoanalysis, queer studies, and ordinary language philosophy, above all the work of Wittgenstein and Cavell. Current projects include Wordsworth and Mandelbrot of the Coast of Britain: Romantic Poetics and the Fractal Geometry of Nature and Thinking in Pieces: Pascal, Dickinson, Wittgenstein.
