Jonathan Sterne is Associate Professor in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. He writes about sound and music, communication technologies old and new, and contemporary cultural studies. His forthcoming publications include MP3: The Meaning of a Format and The Sound Studies Reader, which collects and comments upon classic work on sound in the human sciences.
