Jin Chang is a PhD candidate in comparative literature at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her dissertation focuses on the intersection of aesthetic theory and the history of the novel. Her project involves a revaluation of the novel through readings of works by Aphra Behn, Charlotte Brontë, Leo Tolstoy, and Samuel Beckett against an aesthetic theory articulated in its most virulent form in Hegel’s Lectures on Fine Arts.
