Jeffrey Culang is a doctoral student in History at The Graduate Center, CUNY. His dissertation focuses on secularism and religion in late nineteenth- and twentieth-century Egypt. Jeffrey just completed archival research in Cairo through the American Research Center in Egypt and is currently a fellow at the Center for Jewish History in New York. He also serves on the editorial staff of the International Journal of Middle East Studies.
