Fay Rosenfeld

Fay Rosenfeld is Vice President of Public Programs at the New York Public Library, where she is charged with shaping and implementing a comprehensive cultural programming strategy designed to enlighten and engage the public in the Library's work and mission. This includes strengthening current NYPL programming, collaborating with staff to develop new programs, developing cultural partnerships, and more. Prior to joining the NYPL in 2016, she served as senior director of programs and chief operating officer at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College, an institution that she helped launch and build into one of the city’s premier spaces for dialogue around history, public policy and human rights. She was previously on the faculty of the Lawyering Program at NYU Law School and served as dean of students and international programs at Hofstra Law School, as well as director of Hofstra’s study abroad program in Italy. Earlier in her career she practiced law with the firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison, where she was co-counsel on the landmark international human rights case, Kadic v. Karadzic. Rosenfeld received a BA from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a JD from NYU Law School, where she was a junior fellow at the Center for International Studies. A fluent Yiddish speaker, she hails from a family of Yiddish cultural activists and is a member of the advisory board of the National Yiddish Theatre/Folksbiene. She is a native of Montreal, Canada.
