Emily Lauer majored in English and Religious Studies at New York University and then obtained a PhD in English and an Interdisciplinary Certificate from the Graduate Center, CUNY. She is now Assistant Professor of English at Suffolk County Community College in New York, where her research interests include visual and cultural literacy as well as world-building in children's and young adult fiction. Dr. Lauer frequently presents at regional and national conferences on these topics.
