Deen Sharp is a Ph.D. candidate in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program, specialized in Geography, at The Graduate Center, CUNY. Previously, he was a freelance journalist and consultant based in Beirut, Lebanon. His research focuses on the geography of the Arab world and he has written for a number of publications, including, Jadaliyya, the Arab Studies Journal and the Guardian. He is co-editor (with Claire Panetta) of the book Beyond the Square: Urbanism and the Arab Uprisings (Forthcoming: Urban Research) and is the co-author (with Natalia Linos) of the chapter "Dying to live in Palestine: Steadfastness, Pollution and Embodied Space” in the edited volume Suicide and Agency: Anthropological Perspectives on Self-Destruction, Personhood and Power (Forthcoming: Ashgate). His principal research project is on real estate in post-war Beirut, Lebanon.
