Danielle Stewart

Danielle Stewart is a PhD candidate in Art History at the Graduate Center, CUNY. Her dissertation analyzes how photographs of mid-twentieth century São Paulo helped to forge the city’s identity as a modernized, industrial metropolis. Over the course of her academic career she has presented and published on Brazilian art, specifically differences between Brazilian self-representation and foreign depictions of Brazil aimed at the global community. Danielle has taught at Hostos Community College and Brooklyn College in New York, and at Brigham Young University in Utah, where she completed her BA and MA degrees. She has also worked at museums in both New York and Utah. Danielle lives in Harlem with her husband and their two daughters.
