Claire Panetta is a doctoral student in Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research interests are focused on the politics and practices of historic preservation in Cairo's "old city." Her most recent project looked at the work of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in the neighborhood of al-Darb al-Ahmar. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she spent two years as a fellow at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad in Cairo.
