Chelsea Haines

Chelsea Haines is an independent curator and PhD candidate in art history at The Graduate Center. Her dissertation “Staging the Modern, Building the Nation: Exhibiting Israeli Art, 1939-1965,” explores the role of art exhibitions in Israeli nation-building from the founding of the state to the establishment of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. She was a Fulbright Fellow to Israel from 2017-18 and a Presidential Research Fellow at The Center for the Humanities from 2013-17. She is a former editor of Guernica and The Exhibitionist and recently co-edited Entry Points: The Vera List Center Field Guide on Art and Social Justice (Duke University Press 2015). She has taught at Lehman College, the City College of New York, and the Parsons School of Design at The New School. She holds an MA in Visual Culture Theory from New York University.
