Carlos Basualdo is the Keith L. and Katherine Sachs Curator of Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In this capacity, he inaugurated two new series on the Museum’s permanent collections and video art, and curated Michelangelo Pistoletto: From One to Many, on view in Philadelphia in 2010, and at the MAXXI, Rome, in 2011. He was the lead organizer of Bruce Nauman: Topological Gardens, which represented the United States at the 2007 Venice Biennale, where it was awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation, and has been on the curatorial teams of Documenta11 and the 50th Venice Biennale. Basualdo was the chief curator and organizer of Tropicalia: A Revolution in Brazilian Culture, which toured internationally from 2004-2007, and is Curator-at-Large at the MAXXI, Rome.
