Anna Marie Rockwell received her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2012, and her BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon in 2007. She studied a year abroad in France at the Center for Art and Culture in Aix en Provence, as well as at the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art in Brittany.

Rockwell has participated in numerous domestic and international residencies and has exhibited her multi-‐media works in France, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba.  Her work inquires into the margins of aesthetics and social practice. From free shoe-‐ shines in public spaces to collections of retired shoe soles, lost leather gloves, and used soap bars from prison her installations utilize strategies of collaboration, participation, and accumulation. Her Wish Tree was commissioned specifically for the Shared Sacred Sites exhibition at The James Gallery, CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.
