Anita Cheng has created video, animations and performance. In New York, she has received support and fellowships from arts organizations including: NY Foundation for the Arts in Computer Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Digital Artist’s Fellowship at Dance Theater Workshop’s Artist’s Resource & Media Lab, The Joyce Foundation, Experimental Television Center, and a residency at Bellagio Study and Conference Center, Rockefeller Foundation, Italy. While Senior Broadcast and Print Designer at New York’s PBS station, Thirteen/WNET she was recognized with a NY Area Emmy Award, as member of a Channel Thirteen production team—Graphic Designer for “The City,” a series about the Mayoral race. Freelance clients have included Public Affairs Television “Now with Bill Moyers” a weekly broadcast news show, and the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation. She continues graphics and video projects for education, arts, public interest and community affairs. She also teaches and conducts research, including two Fulbright Foundation fellowships: first to Hong Kong and second, to the Communication Department at the Federal University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She collaborated on a video installation commissioned for the opening exhibition at Oi Futuro Center Cultural in Rio. Other commissions include Danspace St. Mark’s Church in downtown NYC, the Ammerman Center for Arts and Technology, Connecticut College, and two public art video installations for the Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library. She has her work shown in galleries and museums.
