Al Filreis is Kelly Professor, Faculty Director of the Kelly Writers House, and Director of the Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing (CPCW) at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Co-Director of PennSound, with Charles Bernstein; Publisher of Jacket2; host and producer of "PoemTalk," a monthly podcast that is a collaboration of PennSound, Kelly Writers House and the Poetry Foundation. His most recent book is Counter-Revolution of the Word: The Conservative Attack on Modern Poetry, 1945-1960. He has won numerous teaching awards, including Pennsylvania Professor of the Year given by the Carnegie Foundation (2000).
