The much anticipated return to print of the poetry of John Wieners (1934–2002) occurs this September with Supplication: Selected Poems of John Wieners, edited by Robert Dewhurst, Joshua Beckman, and CAConrad (Wave Books), complemented by more informal writings appearing under the title Stars Seen in Person: Selected Journals of John Wieners, edited by Michael Seth Stewart (City Lights Books).
For this special event there will be a screening of the outtakes of Richard O. Moore’s 1965 “USA: Poetry” public television documentary on John Wieners in San Francisco, in conversation with Robert Duncan, and visiting the site of his debut book The Hotel Wentley Poems (Auerhahn Press, 1958).
