About the event
In the century since his death in February 1916, novelist Henry James has been forgotten and remembered, reassessed and revered. On the occasion of a new edition of his autobiographical writing published by the Library of America, this event reconsiders the life of a man who excelled at both psychological insight and narrative structure and the results when he turns that eye toward himself. Philip Horne (English, University College London) will discuss his role as editor of the new edition and how James's autobiographies remain a vital way to understand the man and "the Master". Joining him in the conversation is Wendy Graham (English, Vassar College) who will query the role of life-writing within James's vast non-fiction and critical writings.
