Project Scope: We are looking for a web designer to create a website in the CUNY Academic Commons for the project “From my window and other places” in collaboration with and based on suggestions and feedback from Seminar Teaching Fellow Fernanda Blanco Vidal (the creator of the project). This project requires strong writing and graphic design skills, as the website must be visually appealing and easy to follow both from a temporal or thematic perspective. Writing skills will be important to create a connection between the materials displayed and the context of their creations.
Compensation: We are able to offer a stipend of $2,000 over the course of Spring 2023. Further payment may be discussed depending on the scope of the project and designer’s experience.
Project Background: The website aims to be a pedagogical/artistic archive of a project called “From my window and other places” that took place during the pandemic, sponsored by The Teaching and Learning Center TLC and the Center for Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center. The project took place in two major forms — by promoting bi-weekly Twitter (using the hashtag #CUNYFromMyWindow) interactions among CUNY folks using the window as a metaphor to make sense of the ongoing process and a focused inquiry group in which five graduate students and two undergraduate students would gather and exchange experiences, learn new artistic skills, and develop a project of their choice. We hope that this website will store the memory of these projects and also be a space to display the participant's products and learning experiences to the public.
