Ammiel Alcalay’s groundbreaking book, After Jews and Arabs: Remaking Levantine Culture (1993), carefully reconstructs a shared literary and historical tradition that has linked Arab and Arab Jewish and Middle Eastern thought for the better part of a millennium. Join a group of scholars and artists who been involved with this text over the last twenty years, to explore and celebrate the connections and inspirations this remarkable book has generated.
Presentations will be followed by master 'oud player Najeeb Shaheen, along with readings.
