About the event

What happens when understanding your child becomes a matter of science? Join Medical Anthropologist Rayna Rapp (Anthropology, New York University) as she speaks about her current ethnographic research on parents with children on the autism spectrum and other cognitive diagnoses. Rayna Rapp’s current work examines how ordinary people who are deeply affected by brain matters negotiate with science and scientists. Ann Jurecic (English, Rutgers University), and Kate Jenkins (Doctoral Candidate in Sociology, The Graduate Center, CUNY) will serve as discussants.
