The Center for the Humanities is proud to collaborate with the New York Council for the Humanities for 2016-2017 the Public Humanities Fellowship.
The purpose of the fellowship is to bring humanities scholarship into the public realm, to encourage emerging humanities scholars to conceive of their work in relation to the public sphere, to develop skills for doing so, and to strengthen the public humanities community in New York State.
The year-long fellowship includes training in the methods and approaches of public scholarship and work by the Fellows to explore the public dimensions of their own scholarship in partnership with community organizations serving public audiences.
The 2016-2017 Fellows includes CUNY Graduate Center doctoral candidates in U.S. History Sarah Litvin and Johnathan Thayer, who are both members of the Center for the Humanities Working Group The CUNY Public History Collective.
